Part D Assist®
Part D Assist® is SSC’s process of interviewing a Medicare Advantage member to determine, based on the eligibility screening guidelines established by the Social Security Administration (SSA), if the member would likely qualify for the “Extra Help” benefit (also known as Limited Income Subsidy, or LIS) under Medicare Part D. “Extra Help" is a special part of Medicare drug coverage (Part D) that gives assistance to people with limited income. If the member would likely qualify, SSC completes and submits the necessary information electronically to the SSA on behalf of the Medicare Advantage member.
To apply for this benefit, a Social Service Coordinators® representative will interview the member and obtain permission to electronically submit the Extra Help application to the Social Security Administration.
There is no cost to the health plan member to apply for this program and health plan benefits will not be affected.
